With our sliding scale payment system, we ensure that regular, high-quality treatments are accessible to everyone. Experience the benefits of community acupuncture and discover a path to lasting wellness at CAT.

Acupuncture, an ancient Chinese healing practice, involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles at specific points along energy pathways in the body, known as meridians. Designed to promote the flow of energy, or chi, acupuncture stimulate the body’s natural healing mechanisms. One of the key benefits of acupuncture is its holistic approach—treating not just symptoms, but the whole person. This means it addresses the root causes of imbalances rather than focusing solely on the illness or condition.

Acupuncture is celebrated for being safe, effective, and gentle, providing a non-invasive alternative to conventional treatments, without the negative side-effects. Many patients report feeling deeply relaxed, rejuvenated, and significant relief from pain after a series of treatments. Acupuncture also helps manage chronic conditions, reduces stress and anxiety, boosts the immune system, improves sleep quality, and supports overall well-being.

By centering the patient as the primary focus, acupuncture creates a personalized treatment plan that considers physical, emotional, and mental health. This comprehensive approach allows us to address a wide range of conditions, from pain management and digestive issues to mental health challenges and reproductive health. With its emphasis on balancing the body’s internal systems, acupuncture helps create lasting improvements in health and wellness.

How Community Acupuncture Works

At Community Acupuncture of Towson (CAT), we believe everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, including alternative options like acupuncture. CAT was founded to create positive change in healthcare by offering affordable, effective, and accessible acupuncture in a welcoming community space.

In our community acupuncture clinic, multiple patients are treated together in a peaceful, shared setting. You’ll sit comfortably in a chair, fully clothed while receiving gentle, targeted treatment on areas like your arms, legs, and head. This shared environment builds a sense of community and shared healing, allowing us to make treatments more affordable, so regular care is within reach.

Each treatment is individually tailored to meet your unique needs, and the communal setting fosters a supportive, inclusive atmosphere where healing thrives. We’re guided by a simple but powerful belief: that healing is often more profound when experienced together, making holistic healthcare accessible to more people.

Your Practitioner

Patricia Lott
Licensed Acupuncturist, CAT Founder and Owner

Patricia has worked in healthcare for more than 30 years. She holds a Master’s degree from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (now Maryland University of Integrative Health) and is licensed by the Maryland State Board of Acupuncture.

Her certifications include a Diplomate in Acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine(NCCAOM) and the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association(NADA) to offer auricular acupuncture treatment for addiction.

At the heart of her acupuncture practice is the strong belief in “body wisdom.” Every person contains within them the natural ability to heal and be well. Symptoms are signs, unique to each individual, telling us that something is “not right.”

With acupuncture, we can restore the natural flow and balance of life energy, Chi, to promote health and well-being. When your body is balanced all areas of your life are positively affected.

Patricia is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer and volunteers internationally with the Global Acupuncture Project. GAP empowers medically underserved communities by training local healthcare providers, including midwives, physiotherapists, and doctors, in simple and effective acupuncture techniques to alleviate symptoms. Licensed acupuncturists conduct sessions in communities across Africa and Latin America, and maintain ongoing support through direct contact and online channels.

Patricia participated in her first training in September 2024, in Guatemala, and will continue to participate in future trainings. If you would like to support this important work please consider making a tax-deductible contribution at globalacupuncture.org
